Hi, I'm Kara. I live in Brooklyn and spend a lot of time in the Catskill Mountains. I write about food and drink, music, film, travel, books, and kids. I wrote the cookbook I Like Food, Food Tastes Good: In The Kitchen With Your Favorite Bands (Hyperion), and I'm an experienced recipe-tester. My favorite project right now is Brooklyn DoubleWide, my guide to the hidden gems of the Catskills.
As a freelance writer, I have worked with Epicurious, Gourmet, Brooklyn Based, The L Magazine, Chowhound, Signature, Polyvinyl Records, CMJ New Music Monthly, SELF, Brownstoner, Fab, Cook Taste Eat, and The OC Weekly. I've contributed essays and recipes to several anthologies and cookbooks, appeared on TV and radio, and guest-lectured a food writing class at NYU.
